skin tiles

skin tiles is a sub-group of the in-progress body of work grotesquely human. it is a study of the body as sculptural form, in neat little tiles where the inside are not so neat. the manipulation of light and body to create stunning, sometimes wounded, skin tiles was the main inspiration for this work. grotesquely human deals with person and environment, and the shocking familiarity people find in the most mundane of alarming images. skin tiles deals with a familiar topic to any human, skin. it subconsciously is prodding at the questions revolving beauty: what is beauty? what makes something beautiful? what makes something less beautiful than another? it also serves as a revolution of taking back one's own body, scars, bruises, bumps and lumps and all.
